A little about me
The short version: I'm Nadia, I like my tea strong and my mornings slow.
I'm forty-one, and I live in a slightly crooked flat on the second floor of an old building, the kind with radiators that clank and windows that stick in the summer. There's a fig tree in a pot that refuses to give me figs but insists on being beautiful anyway, and a kitchen that gets the good afternoon light. That kitchen is really the heart of everything I write here.
For a long time I worked in a job that was fast and full and left very little of me by the evening. I'm not going to dress it up as a dramatic reinvention — I didn't sell everything and move to a farmhouse. What happened was quieter than that. I simply started noticing how much better I felt on the days when I gave myself thirty unhurried minutes in the morning, a real breakfast, a proper pot of tea. So I began protecting those small things, one at a time, until they added up to a different sort of life.
This blog started as a way of keeping track of that. I wanted somewhere to write down the recipes I make on repeat, the little household rhythms that keep me steady, and the ordinary pleasures I'd otherwise forget — the smell of bread, the first cold morning of autumn, the satisfaction of a tidy shelf. I'm not an expert in anything here. I'm just someone who has come to believe that the small, repeated, gentle things are what a life is actually made of.
When I'm not in the kitchen you'll usually find me with a secondhand novel, walking to the market with a canvas bag I refuse to replace, or sitting by the window doing gloriously nothing. I answer letters slowly and I mean it as a compliment. If any of this feels like your kind of quiet, I'm so glad you found your way here.
